If you were only able to visit one place in Slovenia, it should be the Škocjan Caves. A UNESCO world heritage site since 1986, this cave system has some of the most awe-inspiring features of any geological site in the world and, together with the other natural phenomena of the limestone Karst region, it provides a fascinating insight into the way that the Earth has evolved over time.
