Trebinje
I came upon Trebinje quite by chance, having booked a week in Montenegro and wanting to extend the stay by a couple of nights to fit in with convenient flight times. I wasn't expecting it to have much going for it - how wrong I was! Although it has no coastline, the scenery around the city is stunning and the river makes for an idyllic setting. Architecture is varied, with a mixture of Serbian Orthodox and Muslim influences all around the city. The walled old town is particularly interesting to explore and feels pretty much unchanged in centuries.
The best revelation of my stay was Hotel Porto Bello, a hidden gem within the city walls. The steaks in the restaurant were to die for! Find out more on my TripAdvisor review... |
